Nigeria coach expresses disappointed

Nigeria head coach Lars Lagerback expressed his disappointment with The Super Eagles' 1-0 defeat to Argentina in their World Cup Group B encounter at Ellis Park, Johannesburg. The Swede felt his side 'gifted' Diego Maradona's Argentines the winning goal, which was scored by the head of Marseille defender Gabriel Heinze after just six minutes. "I'm very disappointed," Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback said. "Unfortunately, there was a mistake from our side that created the corner kick. We were sleeping on one of the corners and that was enough. We were punished this time. "We stood sleeping for one corner and that was enough, otherwise we had at least a draw. But we are not out of it yet." Heinze's early goal condemned Nigeria to the bottom of the table alongside Greece and the two sides now meet in a crucial must-win showdown in Blomfontein on Thursday.

Positives

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is taking positives from the defeat to Argentina. "We're not going to kill ourselves," he said. "We have two more games to play. We thank God the score was a little encouraging."
Snubbed
Lagerback also played down suggestions that he had snubbed Maradona by not shaking his hand at the end of the game. He said: "There is nothing to say it's a custom to (shake hands) after the match. " have nothing against Maradona at all, I shook his hand before the game. I have a lot of respect for him."
