Rennes rue Bourillon injury

Rennes defender Gregory Bourillon has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Rennes defender Gregory Bourillon has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering knee ligament damage.

The former France Under 21 international picked up the blow in a collision with a Sochaux player on Saturday and will now be on the sidelines for up to six months.

The 22-year-old was enjoying an excellent season for Rennes, where he had established himself as a key player.

However Bourillon will now go under the knife in a bid to cure the problem that also afflicted team-mate Cyril Jeunechamp earlier in the season.

"I preferred to be replaced because I tore my knee, there wasn't any cracking, so I didn't think it was something serious," Bourillon told the club's official website.

"It was necessary to leave because I wasn't playing at 100 per cent of my capabilities."
