Rennes defender Gregory Bourillon has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering knee ligament damage.The former France Under 21 international picked up the blow in a collision with a Sochaux player on Saturday and will now be on the sidelines for up to six months.
The 22-year-old was enjoying an excellent season for Rennes, where he had established himself as a key player.
However Bourillon will now go under the knife in a bid to cure the problem that also afflicted team-mate Cyril Jeunechamp earlier in the season.
"I preferred to be replaced because I tore my knee, there wasn't any cracking, so I didn't think it was something serious," Bourillon told the club's official website.
"It was necessary to leave because I wasn't playing at 100 per cent of my capabilities."
