Frei claims BVB agreement

Alexander Frei has given his biggest hint yet that he will leave Rennes for Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund target Alexander Frei has given his biggest hint yet that he will leave Rennes for the German Bundesliga this summer.

Frei is a long-term target for the BVB, who had an offer for the Swiss international rebuffed last year, and they are now back in for the gifted striker.

"I want to go to Dortmund and I reached agreement with BVB's board and now it's up to the club to settle the matter," declared the 26-year-old, who is determined not to return to France after the summer break.

"I can't see that I'll report back to training next season," stressed Frei, who scored 46 goals in the past three years for the French outfit.

The 1997 UEFA Champions League winners have overcome the deep financial crisis which threatened the existence of the club and are now keen to build a young team which is able to challenge for a regular place in European football.

Coach Bert van Marwijk will be without Czech Republic international Jan Koller next season, as the giant striker has decided to continue his career outside the Bundesliga at a yet unknown destination, and decided to make Frei the man to spearhead Dortmund's attacking department.
