Monterrubio accepts deal

Rennes have extended Olivier Monterrubio's contract at the Ligue 1 club.

Rennes have extended Olivier Monterrubio's contract by two years.

Monterrubio's current contract would have expired in the summer but the club have now extended his stay.

The former Nantes man had expressed his worry that he had not been offered something until the current contract was tabled.

Lens, Lille and Toulouse had all been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old.

Meanwhile, Rennes director of sport Pierre Dreossi has insisted that top players will remain with the club despite widespread interest from more fashionable sides.

"80 percent of the team will remain for next season," said Dreossi.

Kim Kallstrom is expected to remain, despite widespread interest, but Olivier Sorlin and Touafilou Maoulida are both free-agents in the summer.
