Kallstrom aiming to impress

Kim Kallstrom has admitted that he is hoping to earn a place in the Sweden Euro 2004 squad with his performances for Rennes in the remainder of this season.

The young star has played for his country but is not guaranteed a place for the European Championship in Portugal next year.

However, Kallstrom has scored three times in his first five games for Rennes, and is hoping to impress.

"Being a first team member in France has more value than in Sweden," confessed Kallstrom to L'Equipe.

"I want to go to Euro 2004 to play in important matches, which has not been the case until now.

"I am only focused on one thing: my game.

"I am making an effort to make a name for myself because if I am not good I could quickly go back home."
