Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti admits he is disappointed to have seen so many top talents leave the club over the years.
The 49-year-old has only been with the club since 2009, but is aware of their perceived standing as a stepping stone on the road to bigger things.
There have been a number of star names pass through the club in recent times, with the likes of Sylvain Wiltord, Stephane Mbia, Petr Cech and Shabani Nonda having all taken in spells at Route de Lorient.
Antonetti believes Rennes must do more to retain the services of such stars if they are to avoid similar situations arising in the future.
"We are a club that educates young players that then leave for the biggest clubs in France and across Europe," he said.
"I have a great frustration inside me. And the club is frustrated too."
The latest starlets to have caught the eye are midfielder Tongo Doumbia and defender Samuel Souprayen.
Priorities
The pair are both 21 years old and have been able to make a name for themselves thanks to Rennes' policy of allowing youngsters to shine.
Antonetti insists he is not concerned about their future, though, with his full attention focused on generating positive results.
"I love my squad. I like to train the young players," he said.
"Today Tongo Hamed Doumbia has been discovered. Last week it was Samuel Souprayen.
"But I am not attracted by that anymore. I just want to win matches.
"I have no desire anymore to sit in front of the TV and watch players playing in the Champions League that I helped start out.
"I have given my all to helping these players, but my priorities have changed."
