Diarra to seek Lyon talks

Alou Diarra has revealed his disappointment at a lack of opportunities at Lyon.

Alou Diarra has revealed his disappointment at a lack of first team opportunities at Lyon.

The former Lens captain, who joined the French champions last summer, has more often than not been omitted from the first team at Stade Gerland.

Coach Gerard Houllier has preferred to field Jeremy Toulalan in the holding role in midfield instead, leaving Diarra to cut a frustrated figure.

"I am far away from what I expected. I am young, I need to play and I want to improve," Diarra told L'Equipe.

"The truth is I only play in case of injuries or suspensions."

Diarra admits he will be seeking talks with his paymasters regarding his lack of involvement.

"They [Lyon] didn't tell me it would be like that. I just think the officials could have been clearer with me," he added.

"We will settle the situation with the coach and officials at the end of the season."
