Sylvain Monsoreau has spoken of his delight at joining Monaco.

The 25-year-old moved to the Principality from Lyon in a swap deal with Sebastien Squillaci.

Monsoreau has inked a four-year deal at Stade Louis II and he is proud to have joined Monaco.

"I am so happy, because ASM is one of the biggest French and European clubs, where great players have been playing," Monsoreau told the club's official website.

"So I am proud to join them.

"More than titles, the club represents a lot to me.

"They portray a great image, they are prestigious.

"Wearing that shirt is an honour to me but also a big responsibility.

"I have to respect the values of the club.

"I felt the club really wanted me, that is important.

"The project is interesting, with a good philosophy.

"I have experienced good seasons with Sochaux, and playing a season with Lyon has been positive.

"Joining Monaco is an evolution for my career.

"I can't wait for the start of the season."
