Coupe de France round-up

Holders Auxerre booked their place in the second round of the French Cup.

Holders Auxerre booked their place in the second round of the French Cup, while it was a similar story for Lyon, Marseille and Monaco.

Auxerre were made to fight all the way to overcome fourth division amateurs Noisy-le-Sec, as they needed a first-half goal from Denmark midfielder Thomas Kahlenberg to book their passage into the next round.

Lyon had a far more comfortable time of things, as they thrashed Grenoble 4-0.

A brace from Karim Benzema had Lyon in control at the interval and second half goals from Mahamadou Diarra and Hatem Ben Arfa took them through.

Monaco were big winners, as they hammered Rhone-Vallee 6-0.

The Principality side rested a number of key players, but it mattered little as four goals from David Gigliotti and a brace from Serge Gakpe took them through at a canter.

Marseille were made to work hard before seeing off Le Havre 4-0.

The visitors stood tall for the first half, but the floodgates opened once Toifilou Maoulida found the net on 50 minutes.

Wilfred Oruma added a second on the hour and a brace from Franck Ribery took the game beyond Le Havre.
