Ligue 1 round-up

Lyon extended their lead of Ligue 1 to seven points with a 3-2 win over Ajaccio.

Lyon extended their lead at the head of Ligue 1 to seven points with Sunday's 3-2 win over struggling Ajaccio.

Fred handed l'OL the lead on the half-hour mark at the Stade Gerland but former Arsenal and Blackburn striker Kaba Diawara equalised from the penalty spot just five minutes later.

Juninho's strike on 50 reasserted the champions' initiative, however once again their lead proved short-lived; Tiago put through his own goal in the 53rd minute to level the score at 2-2.

Lyon's third and decisive strike came from Sylvain Wiltord 20 minutes from time and despite twice drawing level in the match, Ajaccio were unable to muster a third reply.

Gerard Houllier's side have now moved clear of chief rivals Paris Saint Germain who suffered a 1-0 defeat at Marseille later in the evening.

In a tight encounter at the Stade Velodrome, the game burst into life with just ten minutes remaining when Lorik Cana claimed the late winner.

It was the 22-year-old's first goal for his new team, ironically against the club he left just a few months ago.

Cana, who turned out as a substitute for PSG earlier this season, ensured Marseille climbed up five places to fourth and left the Parc des Princes outfit lamenting their decision to release the Albanian midfielder.
