Lille are on the brink of signing striker Nolan Roux from fellow French club Brest for a transfer fee of €8 million (£6.7m).
Brest confirmed that deal on their official website on Tuesday in a statement saying that Roux will join the defending Ligue 1 champions on a four-and-a-half year contract in the coming days after passing a medical examination.
"I want to thank Nolan," said Brest president Michel Guyot. "He played a major role in getting us to Ligue 1.
"We wish him well, but we will put a clause [on his contract] to prevent him from playing against us in April."
'90 per cent chance'
However, Lille have yet to officially confirm the agreement, with their president Michel Seydoux saying that there are still a few details left to be ironed out.
"There's a big chance of Nolan Roux joining us," he said.
"But as long as things haven't been finalised, we have to remain responsible, reasonable and respectful of our commitments.
"Today there's a 98 per cent chance that he'll be at Lille this season."
Not a seller
Reports in France suggest that Roux is being perceived as a replacement for Moussa Sow, who is currently on African Cup of Nations duty with Senegal.
Sow has been linked with a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce in January, but Seydoux insists that the potential recruitment of Roux has nothing to do with that.
"The arrival of Nolan Roux does not oblige LOSC (Lille) to sell a first-team player," he said. "I've said from the beginning, I'm not a seller."
