Pascal Feindouno is delighted to have secured a late switch to Monaco, allowing him to return to France.
The Guinean forward completed his move to Stade Louis II from Al-Sadd, on a short-term deal, moments before the January transfer window slammed shut.
A number of other clubs, including Wigan, were reported to be chasing his signature, but the 29-year-old believes he made the right call.
The former Bordeaux and St Etienne man knows all about French football and feels Monaco are something of a sleeping giant.
"I signed at the airport at the very last moment," Feindouno told
L'Equipe.
"After three years away, I am glad to be back in Ligue 1.
"Monaco, to me, remain a great club and I will do my best to help them."
Quality
Feindouno's agent admits the last-minute deal had him worried for a moment, but is delighted to see his client happy.
Rui Pedro Alves told
skysports.com: "It was difficult, but we got there in the end.
"Pascal will now re-launch his career in France. He is a fantastic player.
"I took him to Wigan last week but it didn't work out, not because of his ability but because of other issues.
"Monaco may be struggling at the moment but he brings that little bit of quality they lack and he will shine for this team."
