Bordeaux winger feels undervalued

Brazilian winger Wendel has admitted to being disappointed at the new terms put to him by Bordeaux. A number of players at the Ligue 1 giants have been offered contract extensions, with Wendel among them. However, the 28-year-old, who is already tied down until 2012, is not happy with what has been put on the table. He admits that he has been short of his best so far this season, but believes he is worth more than Bordeaux's current offer. "I have never experienced such a difficult period," Wendel told L'Equipe.

Hurtful

"The contract proposal I received? I thought it was hurtful. "I know what I owe to Bordeaux and I hoped that would be reciprocated. That has not been the case. "I have been naive. I have now hired a French agent, but not necessarily to talk with Bordeaux. "I am no mercenary. I believed I would end my career at Bordeaux. "I am not looking to make excuses for my performances and I hope I can rediscover my form of the past."
