Defender nears Lyon move; Ederson set for summer switch

Juventus defender Jean-Alain Boumsong expects to sign for Lyon in the next few days. Boumsong has found first-team football hard to come under Juve boss Claudio Ranieri, and has been linked with a January switch away from Turin. Reports emanating from France suggest a deal is imminent, with the former Newcastle United centre-back set to pen a three-and-a-half-year deal with Lyon. And Boumsong has spoken of his delight at the proposed switch, explaining that he jumped at the opportunity to move to the Stade Gerland. "I wanted to be at Lyon on Wednesday, but Juventus asked me to stay to remain on the bench for the Italian Cup match," he told L'Equipe. "I should sign for Lyon, unless there are any last minute surprises. It is a fantastic opportunity. "When Lyon contacted me last Friday, I immediately said yes."

Ederson

Meanwhile, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is hopeful of securing Nice midfielder Ederson. Nice are reluctant to let the 22-year-old Brazilian leave in the current transfer window, and Aulas admits Lyon may have to wait until the summer to get their man. "Nice want to keep him until the end of the season," he said. "We want to convince them to change their minds, but we will probably get Ederson at Lyon on 1st July."
