Djimi Traore has criticised the methods of English coaches in the Premier League.

Full-back hoping to secure permanent move to a French side

Djimi Traore has criticised the coaching methods of English managers in the Premier League. The Mali international full-back has recently joined Ligue 1 side Rennes on loan from Portsmouth, and has stated his desire to remain in France past the end of the deal. Traore spent seven years with his first English club, Liverpool, but after disappointing spells at Charlton and Pompey he is now hoping to resurrect his career back in France. The defender made just nine Premier League appearances under Harry Redknapp during his time at Fratton Park and is pleased to have escaped a situation where he felt he was never fully prepared for first-team action.

Goodbye to Pompey

"I wanted to come back (to France)," he told L'Equipe. "I want to start playing again and have some fun. "I left Liverpool because I hardly played, so I was not prepared to sit on the bench at Portsmouth. "I have only been loaned to Rennes, but in my mind I have already said goodbye to Portsmouth.
Different styles
"I learnt my trade in England under a French coach and then a Spanish one, where we were preparing for the game at the weekend all week long. "With the English coaches the management was quite different. There was no specific preparation. "I have no regrets about signing for Liverpool as I got to play with some great players. I can say that I have experienced the English game."
