Gers smash four past lowly Pars; United high five

Daniel Majstorovic saw red as Celtic held on to a 1-0 win to stay four points clear at the top of the table. With every fixture surviving the cold snap in the Scottish Premier League, Joe Ledley warmed up the Parkhead faithful in the 16th minute with the matchwinner for the league leaders against struggling Inverness. It could have been a nervy time for Neil Lennon, who was celebrating his 100th game at the helm for the Hoops, when Daniel Majstorovic lunged in on the edge of the box and received his marching orders for being the last man in an Inverness counter-attack. Steve Williams joined the Swede down the tunnel when he was later sent off for the visitors as Celtic held on for the victory to remain at the summit. In the day's early kick-off, Rangers made sure they kept the pressure on the leaders but were forced to come back from an early Dunfermline scare when Andy Kirk fired the Pars ahead in the 16th minute.

Stunning third

However, the dominance of Ally McCoist's men paid off when David Healy equalised and Lee McCulloch lashed a superb strike past Chris Smith for his first goal of the season. Sone Aluko stepped up with a stunning third and a late goal from substitute Salim Kerkar wrapped up a solid victory for the visitors. St Johnstone defender Steven Anderson had a mixed afternoon after scoring at both ends in what was a Dundee United drubbing. The 26-year-old put through his own net at McDiarmid Park in the 35th minute and the hosts thought their luck was well and truly out when fellow defender Callum Davidson also scored at the wrong end. Anderson atoned for his earlier error with a goal in the 66th minute to reduce the deficit, however it was too little, too late for the Saints as United punished the Saints when Johnny Russell, Jon Daly and Milos Lacny all netted for a 5-1 thumping. Kilmarnock forward Paul Heffernan thought he had broken Hearts with a late strike in the 79th minute.
Second yellow
The former Doncaster Rovers hitman struck after the Killies were reduced to ten men when Dieter Van Tornhout received his second yellow just nine minutes after the restart. However, Hearts - who also found themselves a man down following Jamie Hammill's second bookable offence - levelled through substitute Suso Santana in the dying minutes. Both Hibernian and Aberdeen failed to break the deadlock at Easter Road as St Mirren and third-placed Motherwell also shared the spoils with a goalless draw.
