Lennon hopeful of defender stay

St Mirren have reopened talks with David Barron about a new deal at the club. The full-back had rejected St Mirren's initial offer of a two-year deal, with his current contract due to expire next summer. However, talks have taken place again between all parties and Barron has indicated he wants to stay at the Paisley outfit. Saints boss Danny Lennon is hopeful of agreeing a deal to keep the player, who is currently recovering from a knee injury. "I do believe David's representatives have got in touch with the chairman so we are looking to see things moving forward with that," Lennon told the Daily Record. "I've spoken to David and he certainly wants to be here. It's just a case of going over things - dotting the Is and crossing the Ts. I'm sure it will be done. "David is a level-headed lad and the club tries to do its best by every player."
