Macclesfield have extended Ross Draper's spell at the club until the summer of 2012.

Midfielder signs two-year extension at Moss Rose

Macclesfield midfielder Ross Draper has signed a new contract to keep him at Moss Rose until the summer of 2012. The former Shrewsbury trainee joined the Silkmen from Hednesford Town on a free transfer last summer and has made 31 appearances in all competitions. He told the club's official website: "When I signed last season I was only on a one-year deal so my first job was to do well enough to get into the side, stay there and earn myself a longer chance. "And obviously I've done well enough to impress people here and the gaffer seems to like me enough as a player to give me this contract. I must have proved myself at this level." Draper is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and the 21-year-old admits his season is all but finished. "It's probably going to keep me out for the rest of the season now," said Draper, who has also missed a chunk of the campaign with a hernia problem. "But there's a plan to give me a bit of a run-out in the reserves this week to see how I'm doing. We've got two games left after that so hopefully I can get a run-out."
