Dundee United forward Jordan Moore has received a special PFA Scotland award at a ceremony in Glasgow.

The 21-year-old, who has been on loan at Queen's Park this season, was diagnosed with skin cancer in April of last year.

Last May he revealed he had beaten the disease and his fellow-pros honoured him at the Hilton Hotel on Sunday evening after he successfully got his playing career back on track with the Glasgow side.

Speaking after receiving the award Moore told Sky Sports News HQ: "I was just shaking up there tonight, honestly.

"Someone just said to me 'I’ve never heard anyone get a reception like that before'. It set me off a bit to see my mum and wee sister on the screen. Just sums up a rollercoaster year to be honest.

"I’m getting better now. I’m just trying to get myself fit for next season, that’s the main thing. I’m out at Queen's Park now on loan to try and get a few games but recently I had to get a few bits of minor surgery, just to get stuff removed from my legs. So I'm waiting on the results of that but after that I’ll be free to play football again."

Asked if he sees his future at Tannadice under Jackie McNamara, he said: "Yeah, definitely. That’s what the manager said to me, there’s no point in feeling sorry for yourself or anything, just go and do it.

"You’re good enough to go and do it he told me so that’s what I’m going to do. I just want to prove to him I can and repay him for everything he’s done for me and my family.

"Now I would like to raise awareness of people going through the same thing as I have. That's the main thing for me.

"People keep asking me why you bother. But I don’t want anybody to go through what I have been through. I want as little amount of people to suffer it as possible and that’s my aim.

"I want to start with kids and it will get drummed into them so hopefully it gets passed on through generations to wear sun cream and never use sun beds. I have never used one in my life but I know a lot of people do. Everyone at the club has stopped using them so there’s a start anyway.

"During my time away I was just thinking about trying to stay alive to be honest. That’s your natural instincts for survival. I’m just so happy to be standing here; it’s just amazing to be honest."
