Manager Jackie McNamara was full of praise for striker Ryan Dow after his two goals helped Dundee United into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
The 23-year-old scored twice in three minutes to put the fifth-round tie beyond Stranraer in a 3-0 victory at Stair Park.
"I thought Ryan's two goals were excellent,” McNamara said.
“His first one was clever to get inside and then the second was a great pass and composure to go round the 'keeper and slot it home – and I think it settled us down.
"I thought we were clinical in the first half. In the second half it was scrappier and more ‘kick and rush’ but you have to give Stranraer credit for that.
"Although it was not pretty, the most important thing from our point of view is that we are in the draw on Monday.”
Stranraer, who top Scotland’s League One and have been praised for their successful style of football this season, matched their Premiership opponents for much of the game.
But their manager Steve Aitken said: “"I'm disappointed with the way we lost the goals, especially the first two.
“It was clinical, no doubt about that. They have been clinical all season. It's not just today, they’ve done it against Premiership teams all season.
“But overall I think we competed well.”
