Winger leaves Fratton Park after rejecting new deal

Portsmouth have confirmed that Nadir Ciftci has left the club and signed for FC Kayserispor. The 19-year-old made the breakthrough into the first-team set-up at Fratton Park last season, but has opted to move on. He made 22 appearances for Pompey in 2010/11, scoring two goals. Ciftci graduated out of the club's academy system to become a regular in Steve Cotterill's plans, but is all set to take on a new challenge in Turkey. Born in Holland, the tricky winger has opted to pledge his international allegiance to the Turks and has already turned out for their U21 side. He leaves Pompey as a free agent after seeing his contract expire over the summer. He had been offered a new deal to stay in England, but feels the time is right for a fresh start.
