Axed Hiberian captain Kevin Thomson has spoken of his hurt at losing the captaincy at Easter Road.Hibs boss John Collins decided to take the captain's armband off Thomson earlier this week and handed the responsibility to Rob Jones.
Thomson and team-mate's Scott Brown's futures have been the subject of intense speculation in recent months, with both players seeking to win new and improved deals at Easter Road.
Collins claimed he made the move to change his captain so that Thomson could get back to focusing on his football, but the midfielder is devastated to lose the role.
"Being stripped of the captaincy has been like a dagger through the heart for me," Thomson told the Daily Record.
"I'm absolutely devastated that I only lasted for 25 games or so. I hoped I would be captain of this club until the day I left.
"But he (Collins) has chosen to take it away from me and I just have to accept it. It's his decision and there's nothing I can do to change it.
"I feel humiliated now and that's hard for me to cope with.
"I realised this was going to be a difficult situation when Hibs said they were not willing to sit down with Scott and I to discuss improving our contracts.
"But I hoped from the outset everybody would remain professional and realise that we all still had our jobs to do, no matter what else might be going on outside."
