Scottish Premiership: Ronny Deila delighted with Celtic's performance against Aberdeen

Celtic manager Ronny Deila was delighted after his 10 men dug deep to beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Pittodrie.

Defender Virgil van Dijk tucked away a late winner after the Hoops had lost captain Scott Brown to a red card. Stefan Johansen had earlier drawn them level after Adam Rooney put Aberdeen ahead.

Deila described the result as "unbelievable".

He added: "I'm so proud of the boys who travelled to Romania, coming back and playing another game, it was not a long period.

McInnes: Referee over-reacted

"To get something out of the game was fantastic, and the way we did it as well.

"When you talk about togetherness and team spirit, that's what we mean and there were a lot of leaders out there."

The win took Celtic back to the top of the Scottish Premiership and Deila said: "That's where we want to be. It's a very important win."

The Norwegian had no criticism of referee Alan Muir's decision to send off Brown for a second bookable offence.

He said: "It's hard to say, it could be okay. I think the referee was okay today, it's hard to be a ref but it's fair enough with the sending-off."

Deila expressed his disappointment after some fans disrupted a Remembrance Sunday silence ahead of the game.

The minute of reflection was quickly interrupted by some fans shouting and singing from the visiting section.

Some Celtic supporters tried to shout the protesters down and noise was evident throughout the 60 seconds, just before kick off.

Deila said: "That was disappointing. But again 99 per cent was good. Sometimes some people are not respectful. It's very, very important for Celtic to be respectful."

Logan red

Meanwhile, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes found himself answering questions about full-back Shay Logan being red carded after the final whistle for foul and abusive language.

Deila hails Celtic team spirit after late victory

Logan was under the spotlight before the game after Celtic appealed against winger Aleksandar Tonev's seven-match Scottish Football Association ban for using offensive language of a "racist nature" towards the Dons defender during
the teams' last meeting.

Tonev was left out of the Celtic squad amid the controversy but Logan came through the 90 minutes well despite being on the end of some jeers from the visiting fans.

However, he was shown a straight red card after the match for a comment towards a match official, after the Dons were disappointed with the award of the corner which led to van Dijk's last-minute winner.

Logan will now serve a one-match ban and McInnes said: "I haven't spoken to Shay but I went in to see the referee (Alan Muir) after the game.

"I think there were a lot of disappointed players walking past the assistant referee and he took offence to something Shay has said to him.

"They red-carded him in the referee's room, which really is quite ironic after everything that boy has gone through. There's a sensitivity there from the officials.

"I know he hasn't sworn but he has been red-carded for foul and abusive language. The fourth official has deemed it serious enough to inform the referee and they have red-carded him."
