Calvin Zola has left Aberdeen after having his contract with the Scottish Premiership club terminated.

The 29-year-old joined the Dons on a two-year contract last summer, but failed to make a huge impact for them.

Zola ended the 2013-14 season with three goals and two assists in 11 starts in the league, as Aberdeen finished third in the Premiership.

It has now been announced that the former Newcastle United striker will not play for the Reds anymore.

"Calvin is a good guy and was a popular figure in the dressing room and around the club in general,” manager Derek McInnes told the club’s official website.

"Everyone involved with AFC wishes Calvin and his family all the very best in his future career."
