Paul Hartley is set to be recalled to the Scotland fold for the start of the Euro 2012 campaign.
Hartley marked his Aberdeen debut with a hat-trick, netting three penalties in a 4-0 victory over Hamilton days after Scotland lost 3-0 in a friendly in Sweden without the 33-year-old.
The midfielder, who played under Scotland manager Craig Levein at Hearts, could be called straight back into the starting XI for the double-header against Lithuania and Liechtenstein early next month.
"We suffered from a lack of experience in the last game," said Levein, who will be without Kevin Thomson for the forthcoming qualifiers after he suffered a broken leg while playing for Middlesbrough.
"It would be good to have a lot of characters like Paul back in the side.
"Paul's attitude is fantastic. He's at an age that he knows now how to play this holding position that he has been converted into.
"The reason he wasn't in the last squad was because he didn't have a club and he hadn't trained an awful lot.
"Now he has joined Aberdeen and he can get himself back to full fitness, he will be involved."
