Defender sidelined for a month with groin injury

Derby County have suffered an early season setback after defender Russell Anderson was ruled out for a month with a groin injury. Anderson picked up the problem during the opening day win at Leeds United and was replaced by Shaun Barker at half-time at Elland Road. He subsequently missed the Carling Cup defeat by Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday and will not be fit until after the September international break. "The injury stiffened up at half-time at Leeds, but Russell wanted to give it a go in the second half, which shows what he is about," said manager Nigel Clough. "Losing Russell is a blow because he is a steady performer and gives us options." Meanwhile, Rams goalkeeper Ross Atkins has joined non-league Tamworth on a month's loan. The 20-year-old is set to make his debut against Eastbourne when the Lambs kick off their Conference campaign on Saturday.
