Stuart McCall has arrived at Murray Park ahead of being named Rangers manager, with official confirmation expected later this afternoon, according to Sky sources.
The former Motherwell boss arrived at the club's training ground with Kenny Black, who was his assistant at Fir Park, for a meeting with the Rangers players who were called in from their day off.
McCall, currently working as part of national coach Gordon Strachan's backroom team, is believed to have been offered the position as Gers manager on a short-term basis.
Kenny McDowall, who is working his notice at Ibrox, has been in the post since former boss Ally McCoist was placed on gardening leave earlier in the season.
Rangers chairman-elect Dave King told Sky Sports News HQ's Jim White that the playing side at Ibrox required 'a huge injection of energy', adding he would 'not shy from doing whatever it took to ensure Rangers gained promotion this season'.
McCall played for seven years at Ibrox - between 1991 and 1998 - scoring 19 goals in 264 games as he accumulated seven league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.
The former Bradford and Everton midfielder, who said managing Rangers would be 'a major challenge but a great opportunity', left Fir Park last November with the club second bottom of the Scottish Premiership, having led them to second place in the table in the two previous seasons.
