Fixtures: Rangers will open campaign at Ibrox against relegated Hearts

Rangers begin their bid for a third successive league title with a home match against fellow-Championship new boys Hearts.

Since they were consigned to liquidation in the summer of 2012, Rangers met little resistance as they strolled through the bottom two tiers of Scottish football.

However, their quest for three-in-a-row is certain to prove a far tougher proposition with the inclusion of Edinburgh duo Hibs and Hearts in the division next season.

And after opening up against Robbie Neilson's side at Ibrox on August 9, Ally McCoist must wait until September 27 before pitting his wits against the green half of the capital, again at Ibrox.

Over the festive period, Rangers entertain Livingston at home on December 20 and travel to Easter Road seven days later before hosting Ian Murray's Dumbarton on January 3.
