Sky Sports understands Dean Shiels is undergoing a medical at Rangers ahead of moving to Ibrox on a free transfer.
Rangers boss Ally McCoist confirmed over the weekend he was hoping to bring in Shiels as he looks to rebuild his squad for the new season.
Shiels spent the second half of last season at Kilmarnock after leaving Doncaster and he impressed during his time at Rugby Park.
Killie were keen to extend his stay in Ayrshire, but they were unable to agree a deal for the attacking midfielder.
A number of other clubs were chasing Shiels, but the Northern Ireland international has decided to take up the challenge of helping Rangers get back into the SPL after being demoted to Division Three earlier this summer.
Shiels is expected to sign a four-year deal at Rangers and becomes the club's second recent signing following the arrival of Ian Black on a free transfer.
