Gers boss not expected to resign, but his post under scrutiny

Sky Sports understands Ally McCoist will not resign from his post as Rangers manager, but that his future at the Old Firm giants remains uncertain. The Gers coach arrived at Ibrox on Thursday morning for talks with club bosses. Reports initially suggested he was ready to walk away from his post after uncovering a plot to replace him as manager. He was said to have lost faith in Charles Green, the man set to take control of the Old Firm giants following a protracted takeover saga. McCoist has helped to steer Rangers through troubled waters since the full extent of their financial problems were made public.

Legend

He holds legendary status in the eyes of the club's supporters and is considered by them to be the right man to take the side forward. The former Scotland said earlier this month that he would be preparing his squad for the 2012/13 season despite being left 'in the dark' when it comes to the club's future. He said: "I am in the dark about so many issues but I can't and won't let it affect my desire for Rangers to be successful. I do know there will be a Rangers and we will be ready." It was suggested that McCoist was ready to sever ties with the club and end his association with a side he has represented with distinction during his playing and coaching career. Reports now claim that he will not resign, but it remains unclear whether he will be at the helm by the time the new season gets under way.
