Renato - Sevilla won't relax

Sevilla midfielder Renato insists that his side will not ease off in their clash with Rangers.

Group leaders motivated despite assured qualification

Sevilla midfielder Renato has stated that his side will not be taking their foot off the gas when they host Rangers in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The Spanish side, who defeated Rangers 4-1 at Ibrox in September, have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition but will be keen to ensure they go through as Group G winners. Rangers' loss to Stuttgart last time out dumped them out of Europe completely, but Renato insists the teams fight over the points as normal at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. "Sevilla are preparing for this match with the same intensity as always. We want to end the group stage like champions, with a victory at home," the 30-year-old told skysports.com. "Rangers are out of Europe but that does not mean this Wednesday is a friendly. In the Champions League it is necessary to maintain the rhythm."

Chance

Manolo Jimenez's side have been out of form in recent weeks, with a surprise defeat by Unirea Urziceni on the last matchday being followed by two draws in the Primera Liga. Although Renato is wary of the threat Rangers will pose, he says the contest provides the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways. He added: "Our challenge for this Wednesday is to play well and win the match. Now is the moment to break the form of the last weeks. "Perhaps this is the best chance but we have to remember to respect Rangers. "In Glasgow the 1-4 scoreline was not as easy as people would believe. Sevilla needed to work very hard to get the three points. "And now they want a positive farewell to European competition this season."
