Celtic manager Ronny Deila says his side's performance against title rivals Aberdeen was brilliant

Celtic manager Ronny Deila is refusing to think about the Scottish Premiership title despite the 4-0 home win over second-placed Aberdeen.

The victory, Celtic's third league win against Aberdeen this season, put Deila's side six points clear at top of the table with a game in hand.

Jason Denayer, a Leigh Griffiths with a penalty, Gary Mackay-Steven and Stefan Johansen were on target for the Hoops, who claimed an eighth-consecutive Premiership win.

"I don't take anything for granted," said Deila. "I have been in football for many years.

If we do everything we have done so far, the rest of the season is going to be very hard for Aberdeen.

"At my former club (Stromsgodset) we were three times leading in the summer by seven points and it took three years to win the league.

"So I know how quick it can turn around if you start to lose focus on the right things.

"If we do everything we have done so far, the rest of the season is going to be very hard for Aberdeen.

"We have the possibility to get nine points ahead and there is goal difference as well that is getting better. So we really have a good position in the league."

Celtic host St Johnstone in the defending champions' next Premiership match on Wednesday.

Deila said his side were "all over the place" before the Norwegian gave a calming half-time team talk, and he cited Thursday night's Europa League exit to Inter Milan in Italy and the associated travel as the reason for his team's first-half lethargy.

"In the second half we were disciplined, organised, balanced, moved the ball quicker and they couldn't cope with the runs we had behind them," he said.

"I am so happy for the performance and the result, and I am proud of the boys. It is so hard to play so many games like we are doing now.

"We didn't arrive in Glasgow until 3am on Friday morning - that is a tough one when you are going to play two days later."

Deila is confident that Kris Commons' hamstring injury, which saw him substituted after only 11 minutes on Sunday, and Stuart Armstrong's buttock injury - which forced the midfielder's replacement in the second half - are not too serious.
