Rangers manager Kenny McDowall says he is not worried by the arrival of former Fulham boss Felix Magath in Glasgow.

Rumours have been circulating that Magath, who proxied his vote at last week's EGM to supporters after acquiring a one per cent stake in the Championship side, may be set for a role with the club.

Sky Sports News HQ understands that there is no immediate thoughts of offering him a role at the club even though he has intimated he would be interested in being part of any rebuilding project at Rangers.

They are quite entitled to speak to whoever they want to speak to regarding the manager's position, that's their right to do that.

Rangers play their first home game since Dave King's consortium won control of the boardroom on Tuesday night against Queen of the South and McDowall is keeping his focus on the match.

When asked about the possibilty of Magath playing a role at the Scottish Championship club, McDowall said: "That really is the board's decision, they have managed to get control of the club and it's fantastic for them, obviously everybody knows what my situation is.

"They are quite entitled to speak to whoever they want to speak to regarding the manager's position, that's their right to do that. I will just wait and see and carry on with my duties as I am doing at present."

And the Rangers boss has called on the new board to reverse the decision of former chief executive Derek Lambias to demote Ian Durrant from first-team duties to work with the U20's coaching staff.

McDowall said: "Ian Durrant got put down to the youth department which wasn't the best thing to happen you know. I would like to get Ian back up along myself and Gordon Durie and see where that takes us."
