Celtic manager Ronny Deila turned his attention to Inter Milan after watching his side book their place in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park.

The Hoops shrugged off a 2am false fire alarm at their Dundee city centre hotel on Saturday morning to ease to victory thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths and Stefan Johansen.

Deila now fancies taking on struggling Italian side Inter in the Europa League last-32 tie at Celtic Park on Thursday week, with the return taking place at San Siro later in the month.

"I'm really looking forward to those matches against Inter now," said Deila.

"I'm much more confident now in that we're together and know how we want to play the game.

"We'll have a big test against them but it's something I'm excited about. The team who is developing the most will win the tie. And my teams develop all the time, we never stop.

Ronny Deila was pleased and proud of his players after Celtic’s 2-0 victory over Dundee in the Scottish Cup

"We just go on and on and we're working hard every day to get the small things right. We'll see how far we've come when we face Inter.

"I wouldn't say it was comfortable but it was a very good performance from us. Dundee were on a good run but we out-ran them and outplayed them.

"This week has been the best week in training. You saw it in the match as well.

"It's 11 players really committed to the job they're doing. We're all working together. They're having fun on the pitch and they love chasing together.

"When you do that, you get opportunities and we should have scored more goals."

Scottish Cup round-up

Deila, who confirmed that Kris Commons and Mikael Lustig had picked up minor thigh and ankle injuries respectively, laughed off the early morning interruption.

He said: "We had a team meeting at 2.30am at the hotel. I had to wake the players up. I don't know if the fire alarm was deliberate but we were laughing. I haven't experienced it before.

"I thought it was my phone waking me up but it was a bit more than that.

"We were on the street for 15 minutes and it didn't help. But it was okay, it didn't put the players off too much.

"You have to be prepared for anything and stay focused."

Dundee manager Paul Hartley was disappointed by the defeat, although he did praise goalkeeper Scott Bain for his performance.

The former Celtic midfielder said: "We didn't perform today. We were second best, we are not going to dress it up. We just didn't play well.

"The ‘keeper has been like that in the games he has played. He is a top young goalkeeper and he kept the score line down but too many players had an off-day.

"We were fortunate going in at 1-0 at half-time and to lose a goal straight away.

"We spoke about it at half-time in terms of staying in the game at least 20 minutes before the end and having a right go.

"What we did say is if you are going to go out of the Scottish Cup, at least go out with a bit of fight and spirit and having a right go.

"We worked on that during the week. They have a very good team and can hurt you but we just didn't perform today."
