St Mirren manager Gary Teale has been charged by the Scottish Football Association over comments he made about referee Steven McLean last month.

Teale criticised the officials after a home defeat to Dundee, taking issue with Yoann Arquin's sending-off and claiming the visitors' first goal in a 2-1 win should have been disallowed for offside.

He later apologised to McLean and vowed to calm down after matches before speaking to the press, but that has not spared him an SFA notice of complaint.

Teale is accused of making "comments criticising the performance of the match officials in a manner which indicated bias or incompetence".

He has until February 11 to respond to the charge, and a February 19 date has been set for a hearing.
