Former Rangers owner Craig Whyte is ‘making arrangements to return to the United Kingdom’ and assist Police Scotland with its ongoing investigation into the takeover of the club in 2011, writes Sky Sports chief news reporter Bryan Swanson.

Whyte’s spokesman has confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that Whyte has ‘no intention of avoiding his responsibilities’ and intends to help police with its inquiries.

Rangers chairman David Somers has explained for the first time why he chose Mike Ashley's bid.

Gary Withey, David Whitehouse, Paul Clark and David Grier were all charged over an alleged fraudulent scheme involving the club three-and-a-half years ago.

Withey is also charged with an alleged breach of the Companies Act 2006.

Whitehouse, Clark and Grier are also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The four men made no plea or declaration at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday and were granted bail ahead of a future hearing.
