Terry Butcher admitted feeling disappointed after his Inverness side had been knocked out of the Scottish Communities League Cup at the semi-final stage.

The team from the Highlands were beaten 5-4 on penalties by Hearts at Easter Road after being tied at 1-1 through extra time.

Andrew Shinnie had given Inverness a 49th minute lead, with Michael Ngoo equalising 17 minutes later.

Hearts were reduced to 10 men 13 minutes from the end of normal time, losing Scott Robinson to a red card.

But Caley were unable to take advantage and Butcher said: "We had enough chances to win two or three games but we didn't take them and it's not like us.

"It's an unusual feeling because we haven't lost for ages.

"It still hurts though. I think a fire extinguisher went missing off the wall when I came in. I don't like losing.

"I said to the players I don't want to have this feeling again for the rest of the season.

"We have had a right kick in the privates and we have to bounce back.

"We just have to move on and make sure we come back even stronger and more positive."
