Gary Hooper scored all four goals for Celtic as they beat Raith Rovers 4-1 in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

James Forrest and Dylan McGeouch combined on the left and the latter burst into the box before crossing to the back post where Hooper pounced to slot his first into the net.

Celtic were denied a swift second when McGeouch combined with Adam Matthews and Hooper to create an opening only for the youngster to be thwarted by a superb diving save from David McGurn.

And McGeouch was involved again when his free-kick found Thomas Rogne, who took the ball down and smashed his shot off the post.

But the First Division side were level when Allan Walker (28) cut in from the right flank and fired a shot towards goal, which deflected off Rogne to wrong-foot Lukasz Zaluska.

Celtic responded nine minutes later as Efe Ambrose juggled the ball in midfield and sent Forrest motoring forward to deliver a brilliant cross for Hooper to tap home.

And Hooper (58) took a McGeouch pass in his stride and shot across the keeper before he bundled the ball over the line two minutes later after Tony Watt had come close.

Hooper turned provider with a neat layoff to Forrest who curled a shot past the keeper only to see the ball cannon off the inside of the post.
