Buddies defender succumbs to ankle knock

St Mirren defender Jack Ross will miss the remainder of the SPL season after succumbing to a persistent ankle problem. The 33-year-old stopper had been playing through the pain barrier since February's Scottish Cup defeat to Rangers. Ross did not feature in The Buddies' 2-1 weekend loss to Falkirk and will now spend the rest of the campaign on the sidelines. "The effects of returning from the injury have eventually caught up with me," he confirmed. "I was hoping to make it through to the end of the season before getting the required healing time but unfortunately haven't been able to do so."
