Striker aiming to seize Hearts opportunity following loan spell

Hearts' Calum Elliot is desperate to make the most of his second chance at Tynecastle following a successful loan spell at Livingston. The striker had been tipped to leave in the New Year after reportedly being told he was surplus to requirements with the SPL club, who were looking to raise cash to strengthen the team. However, Elliot will be given a chance to resurrect his Hearts career on Wednesday night after being named in manager Csaba Laszlo's squad to face Motherwell. Elliot believes scoring goals for fun at Livingston has done him the world of good and now he is looking to prove his doubters wrong and show he is good enough for Hearts.

Good to be back

"It's good to be back and involved in the first team," the Scotland Under-21 cap said. "It was always my aim to either come back here, and if I couldn't get back here, I would have gone to another club. "Thankfully Hearts have given me the chance. If I get the chance, I just need to work hard to prove the doubters wrong, which I imagine there will be. "I'm coming back a more confident player. Sometimes you have to do that in your career - go to a lesser league and get your confidence back up.
Has a chance
"I spoke to the manager and he said if I work hard and impress him in training, then I will get a chance." Laszlo believes Elliot can push for a first-team place. "It was very positive for him to go out for half a year," the former Ferencvaros manager said. "I saw three games and he did well. He scored 11 goals and this is a good performance. I hope he can show the confidence he showed at Livingston here."
