Burger gets role at Tynecastle

Werner Burger has been appointed as the assistant manager at Hearts, while David Obua has been granted a work permit. Burger is a highly regarded German tactician who holds a Uefa pro license and has worked closely with boss Csaba Laszlo in the past. The pair studied for their football qualifications together in Cologne, before Burger went on to coach Swiss clubs FC Schaffhausen, Red Star Zurich and FC Kreuzlingen. Burger has also spent time with the German football federation as a youth coach.

Obua seals move

Ugandan midfielder Obua became Hearts' first signing of the summer last month subject to the issue of a work permit. He has now been granted the necessary paperwork after Laszlo and managing director Campbell Ogilvie attended a Review Panel at Hampden Park. Ogilvie told the club's official website: "We are delighted to have secured this decision. "David is sure to be a valuable addition to Hearts both on and off the field. "Even though he is still a young player he has achieved great success and he is likely to impress our supporters." Obua is set to miss Saturday's Scottish Premier League opener against Motherwell on Saturday as he not expected to arrive from Uganda until early next week.
