Former Aberdeen striker hoping to secure deal

Steve Lovell is on the brink of signing for Falkirk after flying out on the club's trip to Holland. The 27-year-old striker was released by Aberdeen at the end of last season and looked set to join Bournemouth earlier in the summer. However, he decided to continue his career in Scotland and is now hopeful of securing a move to Falkirk. He could make his debut in Wednesday's friendly with SC Cambuur and will look to impress on the three-game tour. Lovell is expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal with the Bairns as soon as he agrees personal terms. Reflecting on his possible move to Bournemouth, Lovell said in the Daily Record: "I started to drive and as I got down the road I knew I couldn't go. "I turned round. I realised my future was in Scotland. "I also want to stay in the SPL to prove a point to myself."
