Striker to serve three-match European ban

Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville has failed in his appeal against a three-match European ban. The 32-year-old was sent off for his challenge on the Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom in Rangers' final UEFA Champions League group game on 12th December Rangers were hopeful that Uefa might reduce the ban; however the initial suspension has been upheld. Darcheville will now miss both legs of the Uefa Cup tie against Panathinaikos. The three-game suspension means he will also miss the first leg of the meeting with Werder Bremen or Braga in the last 16, should the Gers make it past Panathinaikos.
