Argyle boss raiding the market to bolster squad

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has confirmed he has made 'more than a half a dozen' bids for players as he looks to strengthen his side. The Pilgrims currently sit seventh in the Championship and have progressed into the fourth round of the FA Cup where they will take on Portsmouth. In order to mount a serious promotion challenge Sturrock believes scouring the transfer market is essential - whether that be at home or abroad. "I have made more than half a dozen bids for players and we are just waiting to hear back from all sorts of clubs," he said. "I have started in Britain and my head scout Andy King is now pursuing the European scene."

Target

Aberdeen right back Michael Hart has been linked as a possible target with Sturrock reportedly making a £175,000 bid for the 27-year-old. Everton trialist Pat Boyle played 90-minutes for Plymouth reserves in their 2-0 win against Swindon on Tuesday. The 20-year-old left back has been training with the first team - and he has already experienced Championship football after spending a spell on loan at Norwich last season. "I have also tried to get a couple of foreign players in to look at on trial as well but have not been able to as yet," added Sturrock.
