Pilgrims deny keeper exit

Boston United insist goalkeeper Nathan Abbey has not left the club.

Boston United insist goalkeeper Nathan Abbey has not left the club.

Reports had claimed the 26-year-old had been released by The Pilgrims, despite having 12 months remaining on his contract.

But the club's director of football Jim Rodwell has refuted the rumours and confirmed Abbey is still part of manager Steve Evans' plans.

"We don't know what the source of this story was but we can assure all Pilgrims fans that Nathan is under contract until June 30, 2006," Rodwell told the club's official website.

"We are looking forward to seeing Nathan again when the players report back for pre-season training."

Abbey joined Boston on a free transfer from Burnley last summer and established himself as the first-choice keeper at York Street.
