Pilgrims trial African youngster

Boston United have handed a three-day trial to African striker Adebayo Akinfenwa at York Street.

The young forward comes to The Pilgrims from League of Wales side Barry Town, where club owner John Fashanu signed him.

Before his move to Wales, he played two seasons for Lithuanian club Atlantas Klaipeda, where he won the domestic cup and the side finished runners-up twice in the league.

Now based in London, Akinfenwa will hope to impress for Boston's reserves this week at Darlington, as manager Neil Thompson will run the rule over the African forward.
