Sky Sports understands former Lewes boss Steve King is set to be appointed as the new manager of Macclesfield Town.
Relegated Macclesfield are looking for a new manager following the departure of Brian Horton in the wake of their drop into the Conference.
Horton's assistant, Glyn Chamberlain, left earlier this week after he took charge of the final game of the season following Horton's exit.
Former Manchester City chief Horton replaced Gary Simpson at Moss Rose in March, but could not save the club from relegation.
A number of names have been linked with the manager's job, but it appears the Macclesfield board have plumped for King to lead them back into the Football League.
King led the Lewes to five promotions in seven seasons during his two spells at the club and he is highly regarded in coaching circles.
There has been no official confirmation from Macclesfield about the managerial situation, but King is believed to have been in Macclesfield discussing terms on Friday.
King is expected to sign a two-year deal at Moss Rose as the club prepare for life in the Conference next season.
