Hartlepool United are hoping to bring in a player from the Championship within the next 48 hours.
Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi has been linked with a move to Hartlepool as director of sport Chris Turner looks to improve the squad.
Turner confirmed Pools have lined up a new signing and admits the League One club could make further additions before the transfer window closes.
"There might be something happening in the next 24 to 48 hours," Turner told the Hartlepool Mail.
"It's a player in the Championship who we have been pursuing for a couple of weeks.
"If we feel that we need to, we might bring someone else in. There are several areas of the team that we are looking at that we feel we might need to strengthen."
