Defender accepts two-year deal

Chesterfield defender Phil Picken has agreed a new two-year contract with the League Two club. Picken has spent three years at Saltergate after originally joining the club on loan from Manchester United. His decision to stay with the Spireites has pleased manager Lee Richardson, who has been busy since the end of the season. "Phil is a highly valued member of the squad, so I am delighted he has agreed to accept our offer of a new extended contract," Richardson told the club's official website. Richardson has already added Robert Page, Paul Harsley and Lloyd Kerry to his squad for next season, and has also secured Derek Niven on a new contract.
