Bees hit by keeper blow

Barnet goalkeeper Ross Flitney faces a long spell out due to a back injury.

Barnet's pre-season preparations have taken an unfortunate turn with the news that goalkeeper Ross Flitney has suffered a serious injury.

The youngster, who made 38 appearances last season for The Bees, has torn a disc in his back and is now facing a 'potentially long lay-off'.

Flitney first sustained the problem in a pre-season game with Hitchin Town, and during the high-profile friendly with Arsenal the 22-year-old had to go off to receive an injection.

Although no concrete details have been released as to the likely recovery time, Flitney has conceded he is preparing to be on the sidelines for a long time following the blow.

"I am gutted," Flitney told the club's official website.

"It looks like a long job, tell everyone I'll be back as quick as I can."

Meanwhile trialist Magno Vieira is expected to be out for a week following a thigh strain sustained against Enfield.
